When your content doesn't get traction it's easy to blame the timing or the algorithm.
You might even blame your luck.
Believe it or not there is one reason creators tend to rule out...
On Tuesday, I posted a thread:
The stats 24 hours later:
• 1.7k Bookmarks
• 118 Reposts
Not bad at all, right?
Believe it or not, there was a huge spelling mistake.
I was embarrased once it was brought to my attention.
The post had already blown up.
There was no chance of deleting and reposting it.
Fast forward and it's the best post I've written since I started writing.
So why did it blow up despite the misspelling of a major podcast host's name?
It was because of the value.
I know "value" is a buzzword in the creator space.
But here's the thing:
If your posts are valuable (or perceived as valuable) then they can outperform even the biggest errors.
The secret is to write something that people want to keep.
That's it.
Too many creators focus on the post being perfect rather than the value.
Here are 4 proven tactics that will help you create bookmark-worthy content:
1. Lead with Value.
Give your reader a quick win.
The best posts are cheat codes.
My thread got a lot of saves because it was perceived as extremely valuable.
So next time, do this:
Before posting, ask yourself:
Would I pay for this information?
If the answer is no, rewrite it.
Majority of your posts should feel like a steal.
2. Explain like you are talking to a friend.
You don't need "sound" like an expert.
You need to cut down on all unnecessary words:
- Drop the fluff.
- Drop the jargon.
- Drop the complexity.
Nobody wants to spend time trying to figure out your thoughts.
Give them clarity.
The best writing isn’t fancy.
It’s effortless to read.
3. Make it easy to scan.
Most of your readers can't sit through long paragrahs.
I should know.
I am one of them.
You need to capture and hold their attention with:
- Bold claims.
- Short sentences.
- Lists that pop out.
Your audience is scrolling fast.
If they can’t absorb it in 3 seconds, they move on.
Break it up. Keep it punchy. Make it readable.
4. Let your content do the selling.
Most people chase attention.
You don’t need to.
When your content is valuable, people come to you.
They ask for your advice.
They check your profile.
They buy your offer.
Writing for value makes monetizing almost effortless.
Stop chasing perfection.
Start chasing value.
My post is living proof that value trumps everything.
Your audience cares about what you teach them.
If you want to build an audience, write posts worth saving.
