The other day I had a conversation with a creator in the productivity niche.
After chatting a bit I asked him what his biggest struggle was.
He said his biggest issue was finding good pain points for his posts.
That answer shocked me.
Most creators assume they know the pain points of their audience.
I never met anyone who was actively in pursuit of it.
Think about it…
Knowing your audience better than they know themselves.
Creating content that feels like you’re reading their minds.
When you get down to it, there are only 5 questions you need to ask.
They will help you:
- Build trust faster.
- Turn casual followers into loyal customers.
- Create offers that sell themselves.
Let’s dive in...
1. What keeps them up at night?
This classic question goes straight to the heart.
It uncovers deep fears and frustrations.
A fitness coach might hear:
“I hate feeling tired after workouts.”
Now, you know their pain isn’t the exercise itself.
The aftermath is.
You could create a post on post-workout recovery.
Or a free guide to reduce fatigue after training.
This insight helps you focus on a pain they feel daily.
It turns generic advice into personalized value.
The more specific you get, the more they’ll trust you.
2. What would make their life easier today?
This uncovers daily struggles and quick wins.
For entrepreneurs, you might hear: “More time for my family.”
Now you know your audience wants work-life balance.
You can build content around automation tips, time hacks, or tools that lighten their load.
When the solutions are specific your audience feels seen and supported.
And they’ll associate your content with real results.
3. What frustrates them about their current options?
Every industry has gaps.
Maybe they’re tired of clunky software.
Or frustrated with overpriced courses that underdeliver.
Their answers show opportunities for differentiation.
You’ll know exactly how to make your offer irresistible.
Remember: Where there’s frustration, there’s innovation.
If you can solve their frustration you’ll gain credibility.
4. What’s their dream result?
Tap into their desires and long-term goals.
For example, a writer might dream of consistent income.
But the pain here may not be the income itself.
It’s the uncertainty.
People buy solutions to problems, but they stay for results.
Painting the dream keeps them engaged long-term.
Instead of focusing on the product, they’ll focus on the transformation.
5. What’s holding them back right now?
This question will provide immediate objections.
Look for answers like “lack of time” or “fear of failure”.
You can create content that directly addresses these blocks.
Like a step-by-step plan for starting small. Or case studies of people just like them who succeeded.
This is an opportunity to build trust.
Become the go-to by solving their problem.
Your audience is ready to share their struggles; they just need the right prompts.
Discover their pain points, and your content will resonate, your offers will sell, and your business will grow.
If you are struggling to connect with you audience and want help, consider booking a call.
I'll help you find those pain points and show you how to create content around them.
Don't leave it to chance.
Start asking those questions today.
Til next time,
Ken
