5 Steps to Attracting Buyers, Not Time-Wasters

Your content is attracting followers.

But are they buyers—or time wasters?

Most creators make one crucial mistake:

They focus on vanity metrics like follower counts.

Here’s the brutal truth:

A million followers mean nothing if they don’t buy.

Your followers love your content—

But they aren’t opening their wallets.

The wrong followers are silently killing your growth.

And the right ones? They’re going elsewhere.

The cycle repeats. You feel stuck.

This used to be my reality too.

I had gained 1M impressions but I was barely making any sales

Then I made one key shift.

I started attracting buyers, not browsers.

Now, I convert 15% of my audience.

More than 75% of my leads are qualified.

How? I followed these five steps:

1. Start with a Buyer-First Profile:

Your bio is prime real estate.

Make it crystal clear who you help.

Use one sentence to describe your solution.

Example: “Helping freelancers land $5k+ clients.”

Next, ditch generic CTAs like "Follow me."

Replace it with buyer-driven CTAs like:

“DM me for free strategy session.”

My Profile Optimization Guide goes over this is great detail.

This instantly filters serious prospects.

Your bio should act like a magnet for buyers.

If it’s not doing that, rewrite it today.

2. Create Content That Repels:

Yes, repel. Not just attract.

Your audience should self-qualify immediately.

Ask: “Would a prospect find this valuable?”

If not, don’t post it.

Here’s an example:

Instead of “How to write a viral thread,”

Try: “How to monetize your first viral thread.”

The difference? Buyers want results, not fluff.

Craft content that speaks directly to their pain.

3. Use Stories to Segment Your Audience:

Stories filter buyers faster than anything else.

Talk about real client results.

Show how your solution changed lives.

Example: “Meet Sarah, a freelancer like you.

She tripled her income in 3 months by doing X.”

Stories create trust and highlight outcomes.

The time-wasters will tune out.

The buyers will lean in.

4. Build a Lead Magnet for Buyers Only:

Free doesn’t mean low quality.

Design a resource that solves a real pain point.

Example: A “5-Step Sales System for Creators.”

Make it specific and actionable.

Time-wasters want freebies with no strings attached.

Buyers want tools that create transformation.

Collect emails and qualify leads upfront.

Now, you’re building an audience of buyers.

5. Track the Right Metrics Strategically:

Vanity metrics are a trap.

Focus on metrics that signal intent:

  • Link clicks over likes.
  • Saves over shares.
  • DMs asking for help.

Engagement means nothing without intent.

Measure what moves people down your funnel.

This helps you refine your approach continuously.

It’s how you build a sustainable audience of buyers.

Filtering buyers from time-wasters isn’t luck.

It’s a system—and now you have it.

You’ve learned how to attract the right followers.

And stop wasting time on the wrong ones.

The next step? Take action.

Start with one of these solutions today.

Til next time,

Ken
